You will have a proactive, hands-on approach to purchasing management and requirements, and have a practical working knowledge of a fulfillment and distribution business environment.
This position will be responsible for the direction and management of all purchasing activity. Will serve as the primary contact for vendors including; generation and placement of purchase orders, maintaining ETA’s, monitoring pricing, maintaining vendor files and insurance records,. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to multi-task; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills,
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of inventory reorder points for just in time inventory deliveries using current demand, seasonal factors, lead times and availability for planning.
- PO creation, placement of approved PO’s and confirming receipt and get ETA information.
- Ensure all expiring ETA’s are updated as accurately as possible.
- Identify alternative sources when primary source out of stock.
- Ensure delivery requirements and standards are consistently met.
- Pro-actively follow-up receiving issues – damaged product, short-ships and mis-ships for quick resolution.
- At least monthly, ensure RMA, mis-ships and stock rotations are processed and cycled back to all suppliers for credit.
- Ensure vendor contact information is accurate and current. At least annually, get an updated copy of product liability policy with company named as included.
- Follow company processes for discontinuing products, and price updates.
- Undertake responsibility for tasks and functions or projects as directed.
- Foster good employee relations and the professional development of personnel supervised.
Requirements:
- College diploma or university degree in a related field and/or 4 years equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years purchasing experience in a fullfilmment/distribution environment; minimum 1 years supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Highly self motivated and directed.
- Ability to multitask and capacity for managing competing priorities and adapt to changing priorities.
- Highly detailed and organized.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Strong computer skills, analytical skills and understanding of MS Office.
- Understanding of excess and obsolete material management and disposition.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees and suppliers.
- Ability to learn new systems.
- Ability to develop and implement supplier performance metrics.
- Ability to implement procurement flow processes.
- Ability to diplomatically resolve supplier and internal customer issues.
- Solid understanding of key operational activities, materials planning, sourcing and quality control.
- CPM and/or APICS certification, a plus.
